Friends of Mid-Atlantic Weimaraner Rescue

Rescuing these beautiful dogs is difficult enough but it would be nearly impossible without the help of our friends. We'd like to recognize each of them for their help, generosity and compassion. First and foremost we would like to thank Beach Pet Veterinary for everything they have done to help out all of our weims including my personal dogs. They have gone above and beyond to care for our dogs and see to it that they have the very best care available. They never turned us away no matter how busy they are and have treated each and every one of our dogs with the greatest care. I never have to worry about the health and well being of our rescues while under their care. When you are dealing with dogs of questionable background it is a HUGE thing to be able to have their health concerns dealt with properly. We've already come a long way and we'll be able to go a lot further with Beach Pet helping us along the way. Thanks guys. You ALL are great people and we are thankful for your help and assistance. Congratulations on winning Best of the Beach again, too!
Next we would like to thank Medical Center Radiologists for their help and support. Being dog owners themselves they understand the challenges of caring for these guys and the attention they require. It's nice to have their generous support which allows us to help even more dogs and that's what we are all about. Thank you very much for your contribution to our mission. It is greatly appreciated.
One particular individual who we think deserves special mention here and is certainly our friend is Dr. Alan Thompson. He is a practicing veterinarian from Norfolk who is one of our training clients and regular daycare clients with his nice little beagle Snoopy. Dr. Thompson has been very informative and patient with us as we continually bombard him with questions and frequently ask him to take a quick look at one thing or another as it related to our dogs. Even though we have bordered on imposing at times he has always taken the time to offer his professional opinion as to what our concerns are. We just want him to know how much we all appreciate his help, his patience and his time.
The next two people we must thank are Andrea Boone and Karin Bakken. Andrea is perpetually on the lookout for weims in need of help and often finds them before anyone else allowing us to get them before they get into trouble or worse. She has tireslessly transported dogs all over the mid-atlantic region sometime driving for days just to save one dog. Karin runs the DC Weimaraner Rescue and has been a great resource for us and often guides us through difficult decisions. She gives her free time to help these dogs and is responsible for adopting countless wiems into forever homes. She often helps when noone else has room, Karin steps up to take in more dogs. God bless these two ladies for all their hard work and determination.
I would like to persoanlly thank Glenn and Julia Cherry and Block Roofign for providing our rescues a nice, clean, safe haven while they are quarantined. We routinely quarantine all rescues coming to us from a shelter so that they dont bring in any communicable diseases which could affect our other dogs at our main facility. Glenn and Julia help run another rescue, Hope for Life, and work closely with other rescue groups in the area as well.
Last but certainly not least we would like to thank Tracy Lewis and Catherine Duy from Shar-Pei rescue of Virginia. These two ladies have also been a great resource for us and make sure we know about upcoming adoption events so that we can get even greater exposure for these guys in our efforts to find them the loving homes they deserve.
All of these people are not only friends of the rescue but also personal friends. They sacrifice their own time to help out less fortunate dogs whose fate would not be the same had we all not stepped up. We all could have lined our pockets a little more, and in this economy that is no small thing, had we chosen not to help or not to get involved. These are true dog lovers, true friends and truly good people I am proud to call friends. We are so thankful to have each and every one of them.

It really warms my heart to hear stories about people rescuing dogs. It's a noble act.

Cheers,
